Video production isn’t my primary focus—but it’s been a deep creative passion of mine for nearly 20 years. From music videos and short films to behind-the-scenes content, I bring a creative eye, a team-first mindset, and a whole lot of heart. Whether I’m working as Director of Photography, camera operator, or just helping hold things together on set, I love bringing visual ideas to life through thoughtful collaboration and artistic execution.

With years of project management and leadership experience, I don’t just show up—I keep things moving. As an entrepreneur and creative multi-hyphenate, I’m reliable, solution-focused, and unapologetically good at getting sh*t done. You can trust me to show up prepared, ready to adapt, and committed to making the production process as smooth as possible.

Note: I do not offer full wedding videography. However, I often capture casual, social-media-quality footage alongside my wedding photography coverage.

My role in your project:

Production support:

  • Production Assistant: Logistics guru, cast wrangler, schedule keeper, and snack enforcer. I’ve got your back so the shoot runs smoothly.
  • Director of Photography: I help bring the director’s vision to life through camera work, lighting, and creative input.
  • Camera Operator / 1st AC: Skilled with focus pulling, basic camera maintenance, and on-set adjustments.
  • Editing: I edit in Premiere Pro with attention to pacing, music, basic transitions, and colour correction. I also dabble in After Effects for light graphics or effects.

Creative add-ons

  • Hair, Makeup & SFX: Experience in theatrical makeup, basic wounds/blood/special FX, light airbrushing.
  • Costuming & Wardrobe: 15+ years of cosplay & theatre costuming. I can sew, style, and coordinate wardrobe based on character, era, or mood.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Coverage: I naturally document as I work—perfect for sharing rehearsals, on-set action, or lighting tests for future promo content.

safety first

I’m First Aid Certified (OFA Level 2) and always advocate for a respectful, safety-conscious environment on set.

Kyle Martellacci

“Working with Jen on various projects has been a huge weight off my shoulders. Not only has she taken on so many roles, but she does so with creativity, talent, patience and a true desire to help. She has been a makeup artist, meal prep, production assistant and even an extra on set, and often all of those. I have always been able to count on her and on top of it all she is so much fun to work with. She is irreplaceable.”

Behind the Scenes Photography

Behind every creative project is a story worth documenting—and that’s where I come in. I have a deep love for capturing the candid, in-between moments: the prep, the teamwork, the laughs, the chaos, and the quiet focus that brings a vision to life. BTS photography is often overlooked, but it’s such a valuable way to preserve the energy of a production. Whether it's for sharing, promoting, or simply remembering the journey—you can count on me to capture the real magic behind the scenes.

The Covid Film Challenge

During lockdown, I joined the Ottawa Film Makers group in a weekly video challenge. The goal? Make a 1–5 minute short film using a set theme each week. With limited time and resources, I conceptualized, wrote, shot, and edited each piece myself. These videos became not only technical exercises, but creative therapy—tackling tough topics like PTSD, domestic abuse (for men), grief, and body image. I even stepped in front of the camera, challenging myself to grow in new ways.
